Most travel fills the calendar. This empties it. A small number of carefully placed stays — chosen for their setting, silence, and a rare pause from everyday life. For you who finally said yes to the pause you keep postponing.
A short stay in a place that earns your full attention, and gives it back. What you feel here has a name. Attention Restoration Theory. When nothing demands your attention, your mind begins to restore itself.

Summer 2024 – 2025
[Re]treats creates temporary spaces for people to reconnect with nature, the place, and themselves.
We are all guests. We do not own the planet or the places we visit, we borrow them from future generations, and we build our business accordingly. Nature and local communities are our highest authority.

About
How it started
ReTreats didn't start as a company.
It started as a side project. A small room placed carefully in the landscape. No infrastructure. No permanent footprint. Just a bed, a view, and a question: what if travel could create value locally — without taking anything away?
We were already working at the intersection of sustainability and tourism. But instead of talking about what should change, we decided to build something that showed what was possible.
Show don't tell.
People showed up. Then more. Landowners reached out. Places opened up.
What began as an experiment is now spreading, one location at a time.
[Re] charge
Here's a twist. From the bed you look into beautiful Norwegian nature, ready to be explored. You and your partner can wake up in a modern, urban "hotel room" situated in the heart of Norway's most beautiful and raw natural landscapes.
[Re] define
We borrow nature from the next generation. Our hotel rooms temporarily borrow the location. They are set up without disruption and removed without leaving a trace. We aim to be 100% transparent about our impact — positive and negative.
[Re] cycle
Our Re-treats are constructed from recycled materials, they are off-grid and will stand a short season before being relocated. Great experiences built on circular and renewable principles.
Inspi [Re]
We aim to inspire and demonstrate what's possible when nature's put in the front row. You don't have to build down and hurt nature to build a healthy tourism business.
[Re] vitalize
Income from tourism contributes to local services and creates jobs. Tourism can contribute to pride and optimism for the future in small places. Let's try to find the right balance.
[Re] locate
Easily moved from the summer beach to the winter mountains. No permanent footprint — set up and removed without a trace.
[Re] markable
From NRK to niche magazines — the story of a small pop-up hotel room in nature captured the attention of Norwegian and international media.
Do you have a unique plot, view, or place in nature you think guests would love? We provide everything — mobile self-sufficient units, booking, marketing, and operations. You provide the place. We take care of the rest. Earn from the first night, no large investment required.
Thank you. We'll be in touch shortly.

Responsibility
Sustainable tourism is unfortunately impossible to achieve, especially on a larger scale. We are neither green, regenerative, nor environmentally friendly, and we are certainly not carbon-neutral or climate-positive. No travel company we're aware of — including [Re] treats — truly gives back as much or more than it takes.
What we can do is be fully accountable for our impact: recognize the damage we cause, and do what we can to reduce and repair it. Being transparent helps ensure we are on the right track.
"We started this project to demonstrate what's possible when social and environmental responsibility are prioritized. Sustainability isn't a final goal — it's an ongoing process."

We are all guests. We do not own the planet or the places we visit, we borrow them from future generations, and we build our business accordingly. Nature and local communities are our highest authority.
We use the Triple™ framework and focus equally on all three pillars: The Company, The Community and The Planet — with 18 focus areas. We started this project to demonstrate what is possible when social and environmental responsibility are prioritised. Sustainability is not a final goal — it is an ongoing process.
We want to create a culture of accountability in the workplace — ensuring that our team is satisfied, those we interact with are content, purchases are made ethically, and that what we are involved in is done correctly. We believe in demonstrating our values through actions and are dedicated to building a responsible business.
We want to foster a healthy relationship with the places and people near where we operate. To achieve this, we need to contribute to the growth of the local community and collaborate with local stakeholders and residents so that both we and those around us can thrive.
Taking care of the planet means protecting ecosystems, wildlife, and nature by responsibly managing land, air, water, energy, and waste. Since most of the carbon footprint in tourism comes from travel to the destination, the most important action we can take is to focus on guests from nearby regions.
Research consistently shows that most carbon offset schemes fail to deliver the reductions they claim.
For every confirmed booking in 2026, we donate NOK 100 to Clean Air Task Force.
Why Clean Air Task Force?
CATF works on policy and technology in the regions that will determine 85% of future global emissions.
We do not claim this makes us carbon neutral. Travel emits CO2. What we can do is direct our response where evidence shows it has the greatest impact.
